The Bideford band, The Raptors, were formed in 2003 by Charles Moore. Don Lewis and Paul Lewis followed soon after.
Charlie received a request to record some songs he had composed relating to the Kathleen and May. Concerned that there wasn't enough material to record, Charlie consequently thought that it might be of more interest if he included other songs he had composed about the North Devon area, culminating in such gems as "The Bideford Cowboy" and "The Barnstaple Rumbler".
It was then considered that a new band would have to be formed and after due deliberation, The Raptors came into being. The band released their first album called "Down by the Old River" in October 2004 which sold rather well for a first attempt and received a certain amount of local acclaim, which prompted the desire to release a second album, called "Cast" released in September 2005.
Though it was considered fair to try and digress to a certain extent away from the folk like influence of their first release but still maintain a local feel, their latest release has also received favourable interest and is progressing quite well.
The Raptors are currently recording a Christmas single to be released around November. Raptor Music supplements the band and promotes their interests, creates all the art work and backs up their development. |
